Multi-Location Local SEO: Ranking More Than One Branch in Google Maps

Each physical branch of a multi-location business needs its own separate Google Business Profile with its own accurate address, phone number, and hours — trying to run multiple locations off a single listing, or duplicating one listing’s content across several, actively hurts rankings for all of them and can trigger a suspension for policy violations.

The core setup mistakes to avoid

Using the same phone number across multiple location listings confuses Google’s system about which listing genuinely belongs to which address. Copying identical descriptions and photos across every branch listing looks templated rather than genuine, which weakens the trust signal each individual listing needs to build.

Building location-specific pages on your website

Each branch deserves its own dedicated page on your website, with a unique address, local phone number, genuinely local content (nearby landmarks, area-specific service notes), and its own set of location-specific reviews or testimonials where possible. A single generic “locations” page listing all branches in one paragraph does very little for local ranking compared to dedicated pages Google can match against local searches.

Reviews per location, not pooled together

Encourage reviews on each specific branch’s Google Business Profile individually — reviews attached to the wrong location, or concentrated entirely at one branch, leave newer or smaller locations with a thin trust signal that actively holds back their ranking.

The honest complexity

Multi-location SEO takes meaningfully more ongoing management than a single-location business — more profiles to keep current, more review requests to manage, more content to keep unique across locations. It’s worth the effort; a properly separated, well-managed set of listings genuinely outperforms one shared listing trying to represent several addresses at once.
